Without a doubt, e-commerce is here to stay and take over. In 2019, it is estimated that e-commerce sales are expected to account for 13.7 percent of all retail numbers in the world. This means that e-commerce is slowly but surely taking over the world. In fact, it’s growing so fast that it’s estimated that by 2021, e-commerce sales will make 17.5 percent of retail sales worldwide. Many aspiring and seasonal entrepreneurs are looking to leverage the power of e-commerce to sell their products - both physical and digital to customers all over the world.
To help entrepreneurs with selling their products, a lot of people have created many platforms and tools that are used in the sales process. Today, we will focus on shopping cart software that you as an e-commerce entrepreneur simply must use if you want to achieve any kind of result.
One of the most popular shopping cart software currently available on the market is SamCart. If you are looking for the best SamCart alternatives that were tried and tested in-depth, you are in the right place. In this review, we will take a look at some of the best alternatives to SamCart that you can use for all your shopping cart needs. Hopefully, by the end of the review, you’ll be able to decide which of SamCart alternatives is best for you.
With all of this aside, here are the top 4 alternatives to SamCart for e-commerce entrepreneurs.
1. LeadCart - helps you convert more sales and maximize your profit without needing to code
LeadCart is a powerful, yet simple shopping cart solution used by thousands of entrepreneurs to sell both digital and physical products. LeadCart was created to help you convert more sales and maximize your profit. The software help entrepreneurs to start their online business or expand it without needing to know code, or hiring expensive developers.
The software was released in 2018, making it one of the youngest (if not the youngest) players on the market and it’s already looking promising.
The signup process is simple - you create an account by clicking the “Get Your Early Access Now” button from their home page. I took me 3 clicks to sign up - which makes the process much simpler than with some other SaaS products.
I’ve also had some experience with their support team. They were very helpful, answered all my questions while making sure I was satisfied. The team went above and beyond in making my experience with them pleasant, which is something I very much value.
In the next few paragraphs, we’ll cover the standout features of LeadCart. We’ll do this for all platforms in this article.
The ability to sell any product
With LeadCart, you’re able to sell digital products, physical goods, as well as various services. To help you in the selling process, LeadCart offers an abundance of features like built-in payment integrations, subscriptions, split payments, both free and paid trials and much more. The features are designed to cover any sales funnel.
All of the features work as intended. Various payment integrations and embedded check out forms are very useful for various sales funnels.
Features to help you with conversions
LeadCart also offers tools that are designed to help you boost your conversions. You have everything from 1-click upsells and coupon codes to tracking pixels and funnel builders. These features really come in handy when you have products or services that can be sold in addition to the main products you’re selling. If you want to offer coupons - LeadCart has you covered. Your customers fill out the cart but leave the website and come back later? LeadCart can recover the cart.
Using affiliate marketing? LeadCart can help you out
If you’re using affiliate marketing (and most e-commerce entrepreneurs are) then you’ll be glad to hear that LeadCart can help you create, manage, and track affiliates. We’ve tested this on one of our affiliate campaigns and the results were great. There’s a management dashboard that is easy to navigate, you can choose the frequency of commissions, there's also automated bonus delivery and you can manage affiliate payouts right from LeadCart.
Managing multiple brands
If you operate a few brands, either yours or your clients’, you can do that with LeadCart. We’ve tested LeadCart on a couple of different brands and everything runs pretty smoothly. We've been able to manage each brand separately, we were able to have separate dashboards and see separate analytics
LeadCart can be integrated with many payment processors like Apple Pay, PayPal, Stripe, Braintree. LeadCart also works with WooCommerce, Shopify, ClickFunnels, Printful, Hubspot and even more software using Zapier.
LeadCart is currently available for $99 a month (or $990 for the entire year) for the pro plan and if you choose the premium plan, you’re looking at $199 a month ($1990 for the entire year) which is a bit more expensive then some other competitors but you get so much more with LeadCart that the price is pretty much justified.
Is LeadCart the best SamCart alternative?
Even though LeadCart is one of the youngest shopping cart software, it shows great potential. The app runs great, we were able to navigate through it without any trouble. It has a lot of useful features for every type of store and sales funnel you’re running and it even works with multiple stores and brands at the same time. LeadCart can be integrated with a lot of different apps which means you’ll be able to incorporate it into your existing tech stack easily.
Wall of what we’ve experienced, we can safely say that LeadCart is one of the best - if not the best SamCart alternatives for any e-commerce business you’re running.
2. ThriveCart - easy and powerful cart platform for marketers
Like LeadCart, ThriveCart is an early access shopping cart software that promises to help boost revenue using high converting cart pages, easy sales funnel and affiliate campaigns. They advertise “point-and-click features” which is something we find confusing as most shopping cart software (and software in general) is like that. You just point and click on a feature and get to use it.
Since ThriveCart is in the early phase, you’ll have to sign up for their pilot program and if they approve you and pay a one-time fee of $595 to be able to use the platform.
We like the design of the platform - it’s mostly bug-free and pretty looking. Overall, the navigation is good but still needs some work - which is fine for pre-launch software.
We have tested out a few of the payment processing features like subscriptions, auto-billing, split pay and they work as advertised. Upselling, cross-selling, bump offers, and other conversion boosters are present. Another interesting feature we really like is the ability to customize the dashboard. This is something you don’t see very often.
Not enough payment processors
At the moment, ThriveCart supports 4 payment processors - Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Authorize.Net. It’s fine for an early-access platform, but we would like to see more. The lack of more payment processors could turn away some people.
ThriveCart usually runs smoothly. However, there are a few bugs, which concerns us since it makes the platform unstable. We are aware that the software hasn’t launched yet, but we feel that the experience should mostly be stress-free even in a pre-launch phase.
The cost could be an issue
Even though this is all speculation, we can predict that the cost of ThriveCart could be an issue for most entrepreneurs since the current program is advertised all over the Internet with a “heavily discounted price” of $595. We assume that this means that the cost of ThriveCart will be larger than most of its competitors which isn’t justifiable due to the fact that ThriveCart at the moment doesn’t offer anything ground-breaking.
Is ThriveCart the best SamCart alternative?
At the moment, no. ThriveCart has potential; it’s easy to use, it has great features and integrations (other than the lack of more payment processors) but the potential high price simply isn’t justifiable. Especially when you consider that the software isn’t stable.
3. PayKickstart - customizable shopping cart software
Since the release in 2015, PayKickstart has been of the favorite shopping cart software among e-commerce entrepreneurs all over the world. The standout features of PayKickstart include checkout form popups, a funnel builder, and a powerful editor. Another feature that helps PayKickstart stand apart is the highly-customizable platform. Definitely something we very much like.
PayKickstart offers a free trial which is a plus in our book. To try out the app, you simply signup and you’re ready to go.
Integrations with other software
We like that you’re able to integrate with various other software. The process is easy and there are a lot of various tools to choose from. This makes PayKickstart great for all your sales funnels, affiliate management, and payment processing. PayKicksart is a solid all-in-one shopping cart platform. We especially like the sales funnel builder - it can easily be adjusted to your needs and offers many features in itself.
Lack of a key feature
All entrepreneurs, no matter what online business they operate, need to know the data behind their website visits. The industry-standard tool for this is Google Analytics. At the moment, Google Analytics is not available in PayKickstart, which is most likely the reason why most people won’t choose PayKickstart at the moment. If PayKickstart was an early-access tool or in beta, this wouldn’t be an issue. But since PayKickstart has been on the market since 2015 we have to give a huge minus to them.
Confusing information architecture
With all good features that PayKickstart has, there are also a couple of things that are another potential dealbreaker for many. The biggest being the confusing strings of information in once place and the simple lack of information in other places. For instance, if you’re just starting out with e-commerce and have no idea what some of the terms mean, PayKickstart won’t help you out. The marketplace they offer doesn’t explain what is a certain feature and how it works and why you need or don’t need that feature.
PayKickstart’s pricing plan starts from $22/month anually if you go with the cheapest plan which is limited to 5 products. Other prices are competative with SamCart and other competitors.
Is PayKickstart the best SamCart alternative?
Unforuntently no. Even though it has a lot of interesting features, the user experience is confusing even for us seasoned e-commerce entrepreneurs, let alone for someone new in the game. The high level of customizability is great but the lack of information and the fact that the mobile app works slow at times is the reason why PayKickstart isn’t the best SamCart alternative.
4. 3DCart - a powerful e-commerce platform for everyone
3DCart was founded in 1997 which makes it one of the oldest shopping cart software on the market. It is currently used by over 23,000 stores. The software has a lot of features that make it a great alternative to SamCart.
Easiness of use
Installing and using the platform shouldn’t be a problem for most people. If you get stuck, you can get in touch with the support team and they will help you out. If you are a beginner, you shouldn’t have any problems with getting a product onto your store.
3DCart is integrated with over 100 different payment processors. This makes payments in many different ways very easy.
Lots of templates and advanced features
One of the standout advanced features is the ability to add product details and the many ways to change and improve the functionality of your store. 3DCart also supports custom code and mockups.
At the moment, 3DCart offers over 50 different templates to choose from. All the free templates include conversion booster which makes the whole process easier. If you choose a bigger, more premium plan for 3DCart you’ll be able to access more premium templates. However, a huge minus for 3DCart is the fact that only premium themes are mobile responsive. We feel that in 2019 when a lot of shopping especially in e-commerce is done using our phones, mobile-first templates should be mandatory.
Too many features?
When a platform offers many features, the experience usually goes in 2 ways:
- The features are too complicated to find and possibly use, due to the sheer number of them
- The many features are laid out properly and the user experience is designed in the way to help the user out.
Unfortunately, 3DCart suffers from the first syndrome. Even though it has a lot of very useful features, the average user will definitely get lost in all the available features.
The pricing is on par with other SamCart alternatives and starts from around $17 a month for the yearly plan.
Is 3DCart the best SamCart alternative?
No, but it is better than most of the tools on our list. It is our second-best choice. We like all the features and integrations available but we are not fans of the way the user experience is designed. Even for seasoned e-commerce professionals like us, 3DCart was very confusing to use at times.
Even though SamCart is one of the most popular shopping cart software out there, you should definitely consider the alternatives. There are so many options currently available on the market that it’s almost impossible to try them all out. That’s why we decided to test out a few of the best and see how they square up against LeadCart. We tested the same featerus in the same way on same or similar store, always making sure not to give anyone an advantage. Our choice for the best SamCart alternative would be LeadCart. The app shows great potential, has amazing features and is easy to use for both beginners and seasoned entrepreneurs alike. Their support team is excellent and the pricing is on point. With LeadCart, you are sure you’re getting what you paid for.
